2024 Season

Rounding Third

By Richard Dresser
Directed by Richard Meinhold

The story chronicles the tumultuous journey of two Little League coaches through an entire season, from their first tentative meeting to the climactic championship game. One is the tough, blue-collar, win-at-all-costs veteran coach whose son is the star pitcher; the other, a corporate executive and newcomer both to the town and to baseball, looking to have a special activity with his son, who’s never played baseball before. The coach believes they should be teaching the kids how to win while the assistant believes that their mission is to shield their charges from the intense pressure of competition and to have a good time. As these contrasting philosophies play out, we gain some insight into preparing youth for the world ahead of them.
